Professional Summary

This January, I resigned from my role as an associate pastor at Trinity Reformed Church after 15 years of service. My final day in the office is April 30th, with my last day on call being May 31st.

I’m getting back into software development, and I’m currently looking for work in the Cincinnati area.

During my tenure at Trinity Reformed Church, I provided leadership in pastoral care, church operations and financial oversight. I delivered biblical sermons aimed at engaging the conscience, lead small groups, offered compassionate counseling, and managed various aspects of church administration. My analytical nature and problem-solving skills led me to take on responsibilities in information technology and church operations, addressing technical challenges and optimizing organizational workflows.

Prior to my time at TRC, I worked as a software developer at Atrium Web Services, where I helped build websites for conference organizations and managed the full lifecycle of capturing, producing, and selling audio recordings of conference talks.

Technical Abilities & Achievements

  • Built and maintained the Drupal 6 module, Ubercart Webform Integration, using PHP and Drupal.

  • Built a C# application to get orders from an online store and integrate with a Rimage CD duplication machine to produce audio CDs.

  • Worked with Warhorn Media to improve the process of turning scanned copies of old books into modern, readable ebooks.

  • Comfortable using Git and the command line.

  • Recently hired by a local client to help maintain and develop an existing application written in the Java Play Framework, and I’ve been able to be productive and start pushing changes quickly. I’m currently reading Java: The Comprehensive Guide to brush up on Java.

  • Currently studying the Java-based Spring Boot framework. Also working through the Javascript lessons at freeCodeCamp.com (profile here). My goal is to study one of the Javascript front-end frameworks once I have a good grasp of the Javascript fundamentals.

Associate Pastor & Treasurer

  • Serve on staff of a congregation of 350+ by leading small groups, teaching Bible classes, counseling, and preaching in Sunday morning service.

  • Oversee financial operations, managing a $1M+ annual budget.

  • Provide essential assistance to the session during the budget planning processes, including taking part in the budget presentation to the congregation.

  • Oversee IT infrastructure at a 60,000 square foot facility serving both the church and Cedars Christian School.

  • Mapped out the network for a new addition and chose Ubiquiti devices for WiFi access and security camera infrastructure.

  • Collaborated with a remote team to design and develop PHP web applications for our clients using Drupal 6.

  • Wrote the Ubercart Webform Integration module for Drupal 6. At it’s peak, it was reportedly in use by over 300 sites.
